Pritam Nakil

Pritam Nakil is an acclaimed performer and a Guru. He started his sangeet sadhana under the able guidance of Guru Pt. Neralkar, a famous Khayal vocalist in Aurangabad. Pritam holds Masters in Classical Vocal from Lalit Kala Kendra (University of Pune) under the tutelage of Guru Pandit Vijay Sardeshmukh (disciple of legendary Pandit Kumar Gandharv). He is currently under pursuing his sadhana under internationally acclaimed Guru Dr.Smt. Alka Deo Marulkar.

As an accomplished vocalist, Pritam has made several notable performances across India and in the USA and UAE. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship by the cultural ministry of Government of India for the year 2014-15. The research project was based on ‘The study of Dhunugam ragas’ discovered by Pt. Kumar Gandharv.

Pritam has a keen interest and thorough understanding and experience with aesthetics, criticism, history of music, and applied music along with research terminologies.

In addition to being a performer and researcher of Hindustani Classical Music Arts, he is a devoted teacher. His students have garnered appreciation and accolades for various levels of performances. His goal is to make a significant contribution to the art form by passing it on to the younger generation.

Along with being a strong pillar of Srujananaada, Pritam is currently working as an Assistant Professor of music at KTHM college Nashik

Achievements and Awards

  • Awarded a scholarship of rupees 25000 as a promising young artist in the field of Indian classical music by Ranhen foundation Pune for the year 2017.
  • Awarded  Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) by the Cultural Ministry of Government of India(HRD) for the year 2014-15. The research project is titled ‘The study of Dhunugam ragas discovered by Pt.kumar Gandharv’
  • Selected as a delegate from India to the United States of America in a study exchange programme. Visited various music schools and colleges in the state of Main and New Hampshire, performed, and delivered lectures on Indian Classical music. The tour was organised and sponsored by Rotary International in May 2010.
  • Received 2nd prize in Vasant Suron Ki Khoj in Indian classical category held in Mumbai,2o11.
  • Received 2nd prize in Kusumagraj Pratishthan State level Indian classical vocal competition held in Nashik,2011.
  • Received 1st prize in State level Yoga geet competition held in Talwade2011.
  • Received consolation prize State level Indian classical vocal competition held in Deval Club Kolhapur 2009.
  • Received 2nd prize in State level Indian classical vocal competition held in Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre Mumbai  1998
  • Received 1st prize in State level Gazal and Light music competition organised by Lion’s club Ahamadnagar 2000.
  • Received 2nd prize in state-level Classical vocal competition in Youth festival held in Patoda Aurangabad 2001.

  • Performed Indian classical vocal in Rotary International Conference held in Falmouth, Portland USA 2010.
  • Submitted a dissertation for the last semester of the post-graduation subject title was ‘’A study of devotional songs compositions of Kabir, Mira, and Surdaas composed by Pt. Kumar Gandharva’’. 2006

  • Performed in programmes organised by Pune University for several times.
  • Performed in various temples festivals in Nashik.

  • Performed in a thematic programme based on Pt. Kumar Gandharva’s compositions organised by Sangeet Vikas Sabha Pune 2013.
  • Performed as a  vocalist in the workshops conducted by Pt. Vikas Kashalkar at Pune, Chinchwad, Aalandi. 2014
  • Performed at prestigious Dewal Club Kolhapur 2015.
  • At present working as an assistant professor of music at KTHM college Nashik.
